Collaborative Divorce Dallas members took part in a compelling workshop this May, presented by Dr. Frederic Luskin, who holds his Ph.D. in Counseling and Health Psychology from Stanford University. Dr. Luskin, Director of the “Stanford Forgiveness Project,” specializes in the facets of forgiveness and the role forgiveness plays in moving past trauma. Dr. Luskin travels the globe to speak and has authored several books on the subject, including “Forgive for Good,” and “Forgive for Love.” For their May retreat, CDD brought Dr. Luskin to Dallas to train the group on various aspects of forgiveness and potential tools to use with clients; through this guidance, group members hope to educate clients on the potential value of forgiveness in positively affecting outcomes in Collaborative Divorce Cases. CDD members recognize that practicing the art of forgiveness can be a crucial element for equipping clients to move through the pain of divorce and on with their lives. “An amazing retreat experience,” said Dr. Honey Sheff, CDD member and mental health professional. “We not only developed a deeper understanding of the concept of forgiveness and its value but established tools that we can use with clients to facilitate healing in divorce.”

Working Well Together Now
Now 8 months after the divorce, my ex-wife and I are working very well together as co-parents. That would not have been possible if the Collaborative team hadn’t helped me stay focused and civil during the process.
