Hope for the Holidays

December 22, 2017 By Collaborative Divorce Dallas

According to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the number of divorce filings is one third higher in January than any other month. Resolutions–decisions to change what is not working–might include a marriage. Or perhaps a couple puts off the unavoidable in an effort to “save” the holidays.  Regardless the reason, this time can bring an interesting opportunity.

Any time of year, divorce is never easy.  But during the holiday months, especially when children are involved, time to simply be present can be an enormous gift to the family.  While divorce might still be the eventual answer, spouses have a choice on where to put their focus and energy during the holiday. Who knows?  It might make all the difference.

–Carla Calabrese – Partner, Calabrese Budner

They say January is divorce month.  For those of you considering divorce in the new year, do your best this holiday season to find gratitude for the family you have, even knowing it might soon be different.
